Morisset Pro Am Round 2

After the 2nd round of the Morisset Pro-Am I have shot a score of 69 (-3) with a total of 2 under to be T8th. The afternoon tee times were delayed 30mins due to the morning fields 1 hour delay this morning due to wet weather. Greens were flooded. I certainly did it believe we were going to be playing today but we got through without a drop apart from the 1st hole. Due to last nights weather today’s round was preferred lies through the green and all bunkers were out of play.

Starting on the 16th, a par 5 I went driver driver green side and missed a 3m putt for birdie and made bogey due to a missed drive out on another fairway not making up and down. The ball striking from then on was very rusty back spinning a PW 10m after landing pin high on 18th making par, nine iron in to the par 5 1st finished in the greenside bunker. Taking a free drop I made up and down for birdie.

Miss hit an 8iron at the 2nd hitting a chip to 2 feet making par and followed that up with a 3 play hole par 5 par. Some tee trouble bogey at 4 hurt. 5, 6 and 7 I all had chips around the green. Making par, birdie and birdie. Chipped in at 7 on a par 3. Almost holed out at 8 after a well positioned drive making par before another birdie ended the front nine hitting a 5iron punch cut to 3 feet from 137m in the trees. Certainly a nice stretch that came at the right time with the short game.

Another positive up and down par at 10 set me up from a potentially great result and I finally started to get my ball striking together hitting a par 5 under regulation using a driver 2iron combo, 2 putt birdie. Hitting 12 and 13 greens I could not drop a putt from inside 4m but a great save at the last cemented a great days result moving up 11 places from yesterday.

10 greens 25 putts. Nice day out with the putter. Overall a well run member friendly event. Thanks to my playing partners Ian, Ken and Glenn plus round 2 Barry, Phil and Bryan. Could not have asked for a better group of club golfers. Big thanks to Dave Stretton the head professional. Smoothest ran pro-am with tough weather conditions the course endured.

Week off now of events. Back home now at Manly GC to practice and prepare for the NSW Open Week. Please call or private message me if you would like lessons this week.
