3rd Round Zhuhai Phoenix Tree Open – PGA Tour China

After the 3rd round of the Zhuhai Open I have shot a score of 77 (+6) to be 16 over total and placed T54th amazingly not loosing any places in the field. The wind was up more today than the previous days.

Teeing off the 10th a early tee shot into the hazard left and a wrong yardage addition led to a double bogey. Missed green at 12 not getting up and down lead to a blemish again but just a bogey this time. Making up and down on the par 5 14th gave me hope for the day ahead before an error drive on 16 right chipping out from the hazard added a shot.

Great drives on 18 and 1 the two pat 5’s put me in the go zone but a wrong club choice and not picking the wind direction at 18 pulling my 2nd up short of the green not making up and down for the birdie. 1 a great 2nd shot trickled over the back of the green missing the face on the chip leaving a 5m putt which narrowly missed.

Hitting 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 greens in regulation I walked away 3 putting 4 and 5 for bogeys. No birdies. Missing the green at 7 in the bunker, played a great bunker shot missing a short putt for par. Hitting the last 2 greens to finish the day. 17 was from 10m lipping out and 18 almost holing out from the fairway with 7iron in hitting the flag missing a 7 foot putt for the birdie.

I certainly have lost more balls in water hazards than I ever have in any other 4 round event and there is another round to go. Water everywhere you look. Certainly one of the toughest tracks I have played when your trying to grind a score and your game is slightly off. One more day to see if I can tame this course. Challenge accepted!
